The Good Pitch Forum: focus on human rights
CLAIHR was proud to co-sponsor the Good Pitch forum at this year’s Hotdocs festival, which focused on human rights issues.
The forum brought together the Toronto Documentary Forum (TDF) hosting Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation and the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program’s Good Pitch, an innovative documentary pitching forum that took place as part of the TDF in 2009.
Good Pitch provides filmmakers a unique opportunity to pitch social issue documentary projects with associated campaign strategies to NGOs, charities, foundations, campaigners, advertising agencies, brands and media. The inaugural Good Pitch was held at the BRITDOC Film Festival in 2008, for which eight projects were selected.
“The Good Pitch is a new evolution in the ‘pitch forum’ format,” says Cara Mertes, Director of the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program. “It absolutely fits our focus on supporting human rights and social issue documentary films with broad impact. The Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation has been a great innovator in the social issue documentary sector and we are enthusiastic partners in bringing the Good Pitch to North America.”
The Good Pitch made its first stop at the TDF, May 6 – 7, as part of Hot Docs.
