The 2012-2013 Executive Team

President: Sarah Gale

Sarah graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce.  Her passion for the advancement and promotion of international human rights began when she travelled to Kenya in 2009 to promote the development of entrepreneurship and micro finance with youth from the Kibera slums.  Sarah decided to pursue a legal education in order to pursue her goal of working in international human rights.  She has recently worked in Ghana conducting research on child labour and the Ghanaian political landscape.  While at law school, she is also volunteering with Pro Bono Students Canada.

Vice President: Stacey Purser

Stacey received her undergrad in Psychology with Distinction from Concordia University College of Alberta. She has volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton, Multiple Sclerosis Society, and most recently, Student Legal Services. Stacey works with at-risk youth at Chimo Youth Retreat Center, and has three year’s experience working with acutely psychotic patients for the Bebensee Schizophrenia Research Unit in partnership with the University of Alberta’s Department of Medical Genetics.

Treasurer: Graham Sanson

Graham received his undergraduate degree in History at the University of Alberta before coming to the University of Alberta Law Faculty. Graham is in his first year of law school with a variety of interests including Constitutional and Criminal Law, with plans to study the many facets of International Law and Human Rights Law in the future.  He is currently volunteering with Student Legal Services through the U of A in the field of Criminal Law.

Communications Executive: Natalie Cuthill

Natalie graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology, Marketing and Communications. She is currently pursuing a law degree at the University of Alberta. She enjoys playing sports and participating in the school’s Law show. Currently, Natalie is an active member of the Student Legal Services Criminal and Legal Outreach programs.

Events Coordinator: Tess Layton

Tess graduated from BCIT in the Airline and Flight Operations program, with a Diploma in Technical Studies, and a commercial pilot’s license. Tess then become a flight instructor while completing her Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Tess determined she was more interested in the law and has now worked as a legal assistant for three years and volunteered as an administrative assistant at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre. She also currently sits on the Board of Directors for Harbor4Life Youth Society which supports and operates an orphanage in Burundi. Tess recently travelled to Kenya to volunteer for the summer at a Canadian funded nursery school for children ages three to seven.
