Osgoode Hall Law School Chapter – Past Events
20 June 2006 | Fourth Annual CLAIHR Golf Tournament. Location: Royal Woodbine Golf Club, Toronto, Ontario.
11 March 2006 | SPINLAW (Student Public Interest Network Legal Action Workshop)
The objective of this conference is to raise awareness and generate meaningful dialogue about public interest issues. The conference creates a space for students, local activists and community members to share their experiences and perspectives on current social justice issues in Canada. Of note, last year, the conference grew to national dimensions and provided bursary assistance for students from several Canadian law schools in order to assist them in traveling to Toronto to attend the conference.
SPINLAW’s conference theme will be: Resistance: Exploring Strategies For Change. While panels will continue to address current issues in human rights and justice, they will also be geared towards exploring how law can be used as a tool of social change and public interest activism.
The conference is traditionally held in conjunction with Public Interest Career Day, an event that is co-organized by the Career Development Offices at both the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall. This enables out-of-town students to attend two days’ worth of interrelated yet distinct information seminars, workshops, breakout panels and social events. In the past, homestay arrangements have been provided in order to accommodate SPINLAW guests.
The SPINLAW Organizing Committee is comprised of six students from Osgoode Hall and three from the University of Toronto.
Location: Osgoode’s Professional Development Centre
